Housing
So, as far as housing is concerned, summer is on a prayer that no one decides to pick into my room (the smallest double on Parrish 3rd). Please tell everyone that I smell.

As for the rest of the year, I have been offered a chance to block with Eric, Erin, Erik, and unofficially Beth. It's for ML 3d, the rooms with the tea pantry and lounge, currently occupied by Jeff, Alex, Laurie, etc. I would get Alex's current room, which, although smaller than the rest, is clearly not horrible.

I'm still considering this blocking plan. Of course, it hinges entirely on whether I will be able to avoid a penalty on my senior year lotto #.

Why would you get a penalty? Not from cross class blocking (which only is for Sophomore-senior pairings, and only for the current application), certainly.

Also that set of rooms is called the quad, dear. It would be a nifty place for you all to be at - good place for me to visit at night (since I can get always the shuttle to drop me off in the Ville (which is probably where I'll be)....)

If our average block # is a senior #, then I may get caught in the rule that you may only choose off a senior # once. This would result in my having a junior # next year. As I think that I can get an ML single with my junior number (which should be decent), I'm not going to give up my senior # for this.

Huh? Does it actually work that way? I know it didn't when I was a student — [info]sildra blocked with a bunch of rising seniors in Mertz when she was a junior, and then got to pick a nice room in Parrish with her senior number the next year. And that was the year one of her blockmates "won" the housing lottery by getting "1", so I bet the average was a senior number.

It may be different in my year, because we are no longer on the cohort system, but the "system" instead attempts to even out our lottery numbers for all 3 years.

Weird. Then I guess I have no idea.

<insert ironic rant about how nothing at Swat should ever change from the way it was when I was a freshman>
